Results

028Anytime we set out to accomplish a goal, we have an idea of what the final results must be.  We set a beginning, define the end and then set out on the journey.  The journey is where it all happens.  We experience setbacks, successes, roadblocks, unhelpful emotions, positive emotions, opinions from others, opinions from ourselves, and a lot of course correction.  And then we arrive.  Now is the time to take an honest look at the results.  A true evaluation and determination if we move on, change something that didn’t work, or stand back and smile with satisfaction at the results.

This particular journey of mine actually began on July 24 when I made the decision to incorporate much, much more raw fruits and vegetables into my daily diet.  I also took a few days to gradually decrease the amount of caffeine I was drinking until I was down to one cup of decaf each day.  I increased water consumption and generally ate less and stopped eating earlier in the day.  Then I set a date for beginning the 10 days of very strict eating (see previous blogs).  The results that follow are total results that date back to July 24.

I have completed the pre-determined 10 days of strict dietary intake with the main desired result of Better Health (and hoping for additional results).  If you would also like to have the following results, they are well within your grasp and your control.  I can help you through that journey!

  • 15 pound total weight loss (more than one stone)
  • Fingernails are growing and strong
  • Skin feels more elastic and smooth
  • Overall feeling of well-being
  • Sustained energy throughout the day
  • Sleeping so much better
  • No pain or heaviness in legs
  • Lower back pain has diminished
  • No more hot flashes (yes ladies!)
  • Feel healthy

So now that I am at the evaluation stage, I want it to continue and never end.  I have decided to continue eating mostly raw fruits and vegetables and drinking tons of water.  I will rarely have caffeine, alcohol, sugar, salt or cooked foods.  Who knows what results will show themselves next month?  I can’t wait to find out and if you are ready to get started, give me a shout out and I will help create a plan suitable for you.

Hold your head up and smile.

Changing Health Day 8

160I made it one week!  Actually it is day 8 of eating nothing but raw whole fruits and veges.  I have two more days of this particular form of detoxing and I know I can do it!

Here are some results:

  • Lost 6 pounds (yes in one week)*
  • Tummy is noticably flatter (but probably only to me)
  • I have energy all day and evening
  • My mood is steady
  • The nagging aches and pains are still declining

Most importantly, according to Roger’s books, my organs are happy and functioning at full-capacity and my immune system is rocking.  In other words, my health is changing for the better and I could not be more thrilled!

Now to be real…..I still miss coffee and cheese and a glass of wine.  Oh well, I will continue to take one day at a time and then report back when I have completed the 10 days.

Smile a lot today!

Tammy

*I have lost a total of 14 pounds (one stone) since I began preparing for this detox (July 24) by eating more fruits and vegetables.

Detox Day Three

I am more than halfway through the third day of my mono detox program and am feeling pretty good.

Day One was actually great and I suffered no side effects whatsoever and slept really well!

Yesterday, day two, I felt a little low on energy, although, I felt rested in the morning.  I believe that was to be expected since I took in no caffeine or sugar, etc.  My body will just have to remember how to function without those stimulants. I had 3 oranges for breakfast, 6 small tomatoes for lunch and 40 green grapes for dinner.  We even went out to the pub with some friends and I drank a glass of water!

Day three.  After sleeping brilliantly again last night, my energy level has been much much better today and I went out and walked for about 45 minutes (in the rain).  I had a smallish headache after walking, but after drinking 30 ounces of water, it just went away.  Today I ate 7 tangerines for breakfast and 6 small tomatoes for lunch (see picture), and will have grapes again later.  I have been drinking about 100 ounces of water each day.

Ok…..so with the exception of low energy yesterday and a slight headache today, all is going well and I couldn’t be happier about it!

I noticed during the walk my legs were not as heavy feeling.  I need to get some new weight scales, but I believe I have lost about two pounds, so that is a great benefit.

More in a few days…..

This Change is Personal

Today is the 15th of August.  I have become dissatisfied with the aging process, specifically aching things and sore things and wrinkled things, and low energy and on and on …..  Oh and I have been carrying around some weighty friends for about 25 years, who cause me great angst when buying new clothes or looking in the mirror.  They are the Pound family and I am keen to sever my body’s friendship with all of them.

I have followed my very own common sense advice and based upon my dissatisfaction, done a load of research.  I have read a couple of books by a guy in California, Roger Bezanis, and created a plan to address the aforementioned body pains.  I will be using this blog site to document progress and possible failures along the way, not only for the potential value to others, but to keep me honest, you know, personal responsibility.

Here is the detox plan for the next 10 days:

  • Eat only whole, raw fruits and vegetables.
  • Eat only one type at each meal (this is called the mono detox)
  • For example, oranges for breakfast, avacados for lunch, grapes for dinner
  • Drink loads of water
  • No caffeine, salt, sugar, sodium, preservatives, processed food, cooked food, alcohol.

Yes, my friends, this means NO coffee, bread, diet soda, dressings, seasonings, nuts, etc, etc, etc.

Ask questions. Leave comments.  Keep me honest.  Watch for updates.

Four Levers

How often do you say “well that’s just common sense”? I hear it a lot and there was a time I probably said it a lot, but that old saying about common sense not really being very common is profound.  We get in our own way when trying to change something about our personal or business circumstances.  Don’t we truly know what needs to be done?  Of course the critical factor in achieving something new is always ACTION.  Just in case you need to be reminded, here are some basic, common sense levers of change.

Four Levers of Change

Dissatisfaction

  • The beginning of any change starts with a dissatisfaction with the current situation
  • This is true of changes we choose or for those chosen for us
  • It is as true for those everyday unnoticeable changes, as it is when we experience life-changing events

Vision of a desired future

  • What will lessen the pain of dissatisfaction?
  • Awareness of something new and desirable
  • A vision of something more comfortable than the status quo

Plan to achieve new goal

  • Document the goal
  • Outline the steps
  • Be specific
  • Create a timeline
  • Take personal responsibility
  • Be patient but persistent

Weigh the costs or risks

  • Risks and costs can be real or perceived
  • Change will not happen and goals will not be achieved until the discomfort or dissatisfaction gets high enough or painful enough to outweigh the risks or costs associated with the change.
